Opis. This is - Čiovo. Most people travelling in Dalmatia never miss Trogir, a UNESCO World Heritage town, packed with history, narrow streets, and centuries-old stone buildings. Trogir is beautiful and definitely worth visiting — but it’s also busy, especially in summer. Usually, most people take a few photos… and leave further down the coast to Split, Omiš, Makarska. And honestly, that’s the biggest mistake they make. Because right behind Trogir’s stone walls - literally across a small bridge - there’s an entire island most visitors never explore. Here, the crowds thin out. The air feels calmer. And the coastline opens up. On the northern side of Čiovo, near Slatine, you’ll find long, relaxed beaches facing the open sea. Clear, shallow water. Plenty of space. The kind of places where locals come to swim — not rush. Go a little further, and the island surprises you again. Tucked between pine trees is Labadusa Beach — famous for its bright turquoise water and smooth white pebbles. It’s one of Čiovo’s most photographed spots, but it still feels natural, not overbuilt. And then there’s a place that feels completely different from everything else. High above the sea, built into the rocky cliffs, stands Prizidnica Church. No crowds. No noise. Just stone, sky, and the Adriatic far below. That’s what makes Čiovo special. You get the history and energy of Trogir — but also quiet beaches, hidden coves, and peaceful viewpoints just minutes away. So if Trogir is already on your list, don’t stop there. Cross the bridge, slow down, and give Čiovo a chance. Because sometimes the best part of the journey is the place everyone walks past.

NASTRADAT ĆE MUNGOSI Fond za zaštitu okoliša financirat će uklanjanje ovih životinja s Čiova. Dalmatinski portal, 12.5.2024.

• ​Opis. Prave veliku štetu, prenose bjesnoću. Fond za zaštitu okoliša i energetsku učinkovitost raspisao je javni poziv za neposredno financiranje projekata 'Kontrola populacija prioritetnih invazivnih stranih vrsta'. Na području Splitsko-dalmatinske županije ovim projektom obuhvaćena je populacija mungosa nastanjena na Čiovu. Za smanjivanje broja životinja Javna ustanova za upravljanje zaštićenim dijelovima prirode 'More i krš', trebala bi dobiti ukupno 400 tisuća eura, što bi trebalo u potpunosti podmiriti sve troškove.
